Article Abstract
Aneurysms of the intracavernous portion of the internal carotid artery (ICA)account for 5%of all cerebrovascular aneurysms.Giant aneurysms are by definition>2.5 cm in diameter and make up between 2.5 and 5%of intracranial aneurysms. They usually present with symptoms of mass effect, rather than rupture.Although spontaneous thrombosis of intracranial aneurysms may be relatively common, occlusion of its parent artery is a rare complication.
